Abby and Colby's love story began when Abby was in seventh grade at Oklahoma Bible Academy (OBA). She had the typical crush on one of the senior boys. Of course she never talked to him, because she was a shy seventh grader. Four years later, at the OBA Centennial celebration, she would finally get her chance.
Abby needed community service hours for school, so she helped with serving the food and drinks. Colby and his family attended the celebration, and Abby happened to give him a few refills every now and again, admiring silently. They both went their separate ways and that night Abby got a text from a number she didn't know.
"Were you the pretty girl in the blue dress?"
It was Colby! He got Abby's number from his cousin who was dating one of Abby's best friends at the time. On their first date, December 22, 2012, they talked for over six hours. Just talking, no tv or music. They had so much in common it was unreal. They continued to see each other almost everyday, before Colby went back to college and Abby went back to OBA to finish up her senior year of high school.
Abby says "I knew after a month that Colby was the man I was going to marry. It was so easy to be myself around him and I could tell him absolutely anything in the world. He has such a genuine and caring heart and a passion for God and helping others."
They both attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where Colby was in his last semester as Abby was just beginning her college years. They were inseparable at that point. After only dating for ten months, Colby proposed on November 10th, 2013.
Colby proposed inside of the prayer building of the church they attended together in Edmond. Colby's caring heart showed when he decorated with candles throughout the room. Colby began reading from the book of Matthew, and proceeded to turn the page and he exposed the ring on the next page. Colby then got down on one knee and asked Abby to marry him. Without a doubt in her mind, Abby said "Yes!"
Colby had planned for both of their families to gather at a local restaurant in Enid to surprise Abby even further! Abby said "I was a little upset because he wouldn't let me go back home to fix my hair, I would have tried a little harder that morning if I had known that I may be getting engaged that day."
They set the date only two months later, January 11th 2014. Everything fell into place perfectly and Abby reports their wedding "was by far the best day of our lives." They got married at a winery in Ringwood, Oklahoma and spent their two week honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii.
The first year was beyond busy. They became moving experts after only one year. They moved into an apartment in Enid right after they got married, then moved to Colorado for Colby's job, moved back to Enid, moved into Abby's dad's house for a few weeks, and now are in the process of moving into their own new home.
Since dating, they have had four great danes. The first three were named Harlow. Each having a sad reason for leaving our lives. The fourth dog they named Lawrence.
They are now able to expand their love to their newest addition of their baby girl, Juliette, who is now four weeks old!
I have loved getting to know Abby, Colby and their sweet Juliette and sharing their love story! We shot their mini session on a typical chilly and very windy day in Enid. We kept it short! Juliette was such a trooper!
And their love story continues...
